WITNESSES have described “frantic panic” at Surfers Paradise today when a ‘shark’ was spotted swimming between the flags.
Hundreds of beachgoers were cleared from the water around 11.30am on Sunday when swimmers spotted what looked to be a shark lurking in the shallows at a packed Surfers Paradise Beach.
The shark alarm sounded and lifesavers closed the beach as a precaution while the sighting was investigated.
