FORMER professional Samoan wrestler Matt Anoa’i, who competed in WWE as ‘Rosey’, has died.
The father-of-three and former Tag Team Champion passed away unexpectedly at the age of 47 on Monday.
Rosey was part of the Anoa’i wrestling dynasty, son of WWE Hall of Famer Sika and older brother of WWE superstar Roman Reigns.
The 47-year-old debuted alongside his cousin Jamal, better known as Umaga, as part of 3-Minute Warning in 2002 before teaming up with The Hurricane. He last wrestled in a WWE ring in 2006.
The heartbroken Anoa’i family issued a statement describing Rosey as a “gentle man” and a “superhero to all”.
“We want to let his fans know that he loved them and the wrestling world so much,” the statement read.
“In his passing, he left three beautiful young children and a heartbroken family.
“Please respect the privacy of his children and family as they mourn the loss of this kind, loving, gentle man, who was a father, son, brother and a superhero to us all.”
