Skeletal human remains found during search for missing businessman

POLICE investigating the disappearance of Sydney businessman Minh Phuoc “Paul” Nguyen have located skeletal remains in bushland in the Illawarra.

Mr Nguyen was last seen driving out of the Hilton Hotel in the Sydney CBD around 9.50pm on May 1, 2014 and has not been seen since.

Detectives suspect the 50-year-old was murdered and have since charged two men in connection to his death.

Investigations have continued in an attempt to locate Mr Nguyen’s body, but despite numerous searches, police have had no luck.

In a statement released on Wednesday, detectives confirmed they had received some information which prompted them to commence a coordinated search of bushland at Cordeaux about 8am yesterday.

During the search, officers located a number of bones, which are believed to be human.

The bones will now be subject to examination by a forensic pathologist and a forensic anthropologist, followed by further analysis, including DNA testing, to determine the identity of the remains.

Police say the search for further bones and items of interest will continue today.
