Staff threatened with hammer in overnight hold-up

A MAN has stormed a take away store and threatened staff with a hammer in a terrifying hold-up north of Brisbane.

The man burst into the College Street store at North Lakes about 1.35am.

Police said the armed offender threatened staff into handing over cash.

Staff complied and the man fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance and having a slim build.

He is believed to be aged between 20 and 30-years-old and was about 175cm tall.

Investigations are continuing. Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to come forward.
