Staff “working frantically” to get Westfield Coomera ready for Thursday opening

The countdown is on until the brand new Westfield Coomera Town Centre throws open its doors to the public for the very first time.

This Thursday is the official opening date of the $470 million development, with Gold Coasters able to shop up a storm from 9am.

Centre Manager Lauren Frew told myGC just over 100 of the centre’s 140 stores will be ready to open by Thursday.

“We’ve got 1500 staff working frantically to get the centre open. Majority of [the workers] are local, so they want it ready for their friends and family,” she said.

Ms Frew said the remaining stores are expected to be open by Christmas, including international favourite H&M.

“We are bringing the best in retail, including the best in fashion and food to Westfield Coomera,” she said.

“It is more than just a shopping experience – this is the living centre of the future and a one stop shop essentially.

“Customers will be able to come here, visit Coles and Woolworths and grab their groceries for the week and then enjoy the other special areas including The Backyard and our outdoor dining and entertainment areas.

“The Backyard is our purpose built park, with picnic shelters, barbeques, water creek, water play and kids play areas. It’s a place to come have a picnic on the lawn and enjoy with friends and family.”

To celebrate the official opening of the centre, Ms Frew said there is our huge days of free family fun for shoppers to enjoy.

“We will have a Lego activation, we’ve got fireworks, toy giveaways, live music and more,” she said.

“There will be lots of retailer offers as well. There will be free coffees at Soul Origin, the Beach House will have $5 breakfasts, and there will also be free hot dogs at The Bavarian.”

Spanning 59,000sqm, Westfield Coomera will offer 140 specialty retail stores, including Coles, Woolworths, Kmart, Target, JB Hi-Fi, Rebel and Event Cinemas with Gold Class, as well as an impressive fashion retail mix and 2100 car spaces.
