SAMANTHA Stosur has fallen to French Open favourite Maria Sharapova, leaving no Australians in the singles draw at the Grand Slam.
The Gold Coaster started off strongly at Roland Garros, winning the first set and looking comfortable at the start of the second before losing her nerve and eventually going down 3-6 6-4 6-0 to the Russian.
The Herald Sun reports, Sharapova now faces Garbine Muguruza in the quarter-finals after the rising Spanish star defeated French wildcard Pauline Parmentier 6-4 6-2.
