Students kept home after school fire

POLICE are investigating a suspicious fire at a high school in northern New South Wales.

Explosions were heard coming from the Casino High SChool on Queensland Road about 5.30am.

In a statement, police said the fire damaged the school canteen, gym and a maintenance shed.


Parents were asked to keep students home today as crews investigated the cause of the blaze.

A crime scene has been declared and is being examined by forensic investigators.

Police remain at the scene and have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
