Swallow still a chance to miss Freo clash despite good scan results

THE Gold Coast Suns will continue to monitor the fitness of co-captain David Swallow as well as midfielder Ben Ainsworth ahead of this weekend’s clash with Fremantle.

The Suns star and midfielder Ben Ainsworth both hurt their knees during the side’s agonising one-point loss to St Kilda at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.

However Swallow has confirmed to Hot Tomato’s Flan, Emily Jade and Christo on Tuesday that scans were positive.

“Scans came back yesterday and it was a good result,” Swallow said.

“It’ll be a little bit sore maybe for a week or so but in terms of anything long term it means I won’t be missing much footy at all.

“I’m still a chance to miss this week .. just got to see how it pulls up.”

The Gold Coast will be looking to record their first win of the season when they take on Fremantle at Metricon Stadium on Sunday afternoon, who are coming off a massive 82-point win over North Melbourne.

“It’s the start of the year, it’s a long season,” Swallow said.

“You’ve got to move on pretty quickly and this week we get to challenge ourselves against Fremantle.”
