Swimmer dies after being pulled from surf at NSW beach

A MAN has drowned while swimming at a beach south of Sydney.

Just before 2.00pm on Monday, emergency services were called to the northern end of Stanwell Park Beach, off The Drive, following reports of a distressed swimmer in the water.

A man was pulled from the surf by lifesavers who desperately tried to revive the man until paramedics arrived.

The 24-year-old was then rushed to Wollongong Hospital, however he sadly died.

Officers from the Wollongong Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
