Sydney blanketed by ‘snow’ as hail storm smashes city

Sydney residents are mopping up today, after the city’s first big Spring thunderstorm led to flash flooding and covered the ground in snow-like hail.

People took to social media to express their surprise and frustration at the downpour, which hit during the afternoon peak hour, leading to chaos on the roads and airport delays.

The constant lightning strikes also had an impact on train services, while underground stations were flooded.
