Sydney couple could face death penalty

IT is alleged a Sydney couple have been arrested trying to smuggle the drug ‘ice’ from China and could face the death penalty.

Kalynda Davis, a Sydney woman in her 20’s was reported missing by a family member last month, however the search was stopped after it was discovered Davis was arrested by Chinese Authorities before her flight back to Sydney.

Peter Gardner, 25, from Richmond was also involved and it is reported that the pair had only known each other for a matter of weeks before trying to smuggle 75kg of methamphetamine to Australia.

A New South Wales police spokeswoman said the matter was referred to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as soon as Davis was located overseas.

Davis and Gardner’s case is expected to be heard by a Chinese court this week.
