Worker killed in horror accident at recycling plant in Melbourne

A man has died in a horrific workplace accident at a recycling plant in Melbourne’s south-east.

Police said the man, aged in his 30s, was working near an industrial compactor at Dandenong South plant on Cahill Street when he was injured just after midday.

He suffered life-threatening injuries and died at the scene.

Police and WorkSafe Victoria are investigating.

Boy dies after accidentally being run over by twin brother on Qld farm

A teenage boy has died in hospital after being injured in an accident on a farm near the New South Wales border in southern Queensland.

Police said the 14-year-old boy suffered life-threatening head injuries after falling from a trailer and accidentally being run over by his twin brother at a property in Goondiwindi at around 4.20pm on Friday.

The injured teen went into cardiac arrest at the scene. Paramedics performed CPR on the boy before rushing him to Lady Cilento Chidren’s Hospital in a critical condition.

Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital on Saturday.

Police and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland are investigating.

Woman dies after falling from horse on NSW Central Coast

A woman has tragically died after falling off a horse on the NSW Central Coast.

The 52-year-old woman suffered life threatening injuries after falling from the horse on a property on Cooks Road at Calga, near Gosford, just after 1.30pm on Saturday.

Friends of the woman raced to her aid and performed CPR until paramedics arrived and took over, but sadly she died at the scene.

Man killed after motorcycle collides with car in Brisbane’s south-east

A man has died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a boat being towed by a car in Brisbane’s south-east on Friday night.

Police said the fatal accident occurred at around 6.20pm on Old Cleveland Road.

The 40-year-old male rider of the motorcycle died at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 3364 3311 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Girl, 11, suffers ‘horrific head injuries’ after being hit by boat propeller

UPDATE: An 11-year-old girl has been airlifted to hospital with horrific head injuries after falling out of a boat and striking her head on its propeller in a river north-west of Sydney.

The near-fatal accident took place on the Upper Hawkesbury River at Lower Portland, 80 kilometres north-west of Sydney, at around 5.30pm on Good Friday.

It’s understood the young girl had fallen out of a small aluminium boat and struck her head on the propeller. A young boy who was in the boat with the girl at the time reportedly pulled her to shore.

She was unconscious and had reportedly suffered a fractured skull.

The CareFlight rapid response helicopter was dispatched to the scene and the young girl has since been flown to Westmead’s Children’s Hospital for emergency surgery.
