A teenage P-plater is recovering in hospital after being cut free from the wreck of a horror crash on the Gold Coast.
The 17-year-old boy was driving through Burleigh Waters during the early hours of Sunday morning when, shortly before 3.30am, he lost control of his car along Burleigh Street.
The boy’s white wagon slammed into a power pole before smashing into a boat which was parked on the street outside a home.
The front of the vehicle was crushed in the collision, pinning the teen in the driver’s seat.
Fire crews were forced to cut the car apart to free the 17-year-old, whose legs were crushed beneath the dashboard.
He was stabilised by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital with injuries including a suspected broken leg and a broken ankle.
Miraculously, two other passengers escaped with only minor injuries.
They too were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.
