Woman thrown to the road after violent Southport robbery

A woman has been attacked after having her phone stolen during a violent robbery in Southport on Sunday.

It’s understood the woman was walking along Queen Street around 5.30pm when she was approached by a man.

The man is said to have snatched her mobile phone from her hand before running off to a nearby car.

The woman chased him to Owens Lane and tried to stop him by holding the steering wheel of the vehicle.

A female passenger in the car struck the woman as the vehicle drove along Owens Lane a short distance before the woman fell on to the roadway.

A 45-year-old woman from Southport was transported to Gold Coast University hospital with minor injuries.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 180cm tall, of a slim build with, black hair.

The vehicle is described as a small white hatchback.

Man struck over head with machete in horror servo hold up in NSW

A man has miraculously escaped serious injury after been struck over the head with a machete during a terrifying armed hold of a service station in New South Wales.

Police say two balaclava-clad men stormed the Yass Road servo at Queanbeyan, located just outside the Australian Capital Territory, at around 1am on Saturday, one armed with a machete and the other a metal pole.

While wielding their weapons, the armed duo allegedly demanded cash from staff.

After refusing to comply with their demands, one of the masked men allegedly jumped the counter and struck a male attendant over the head with the machete.

He then allegedly grabbed a stash of cash and cigarettes and two mobiles phones from the store’s office before both men fled on foot.

They were last seen running south on Yass Road.

Fortunately, the 31-year-old male attendant escaped serious injury.

Police were called and raced to the scene however, despite an extensive search of the area, the two men could not be found.

Detectives are now pleading for information from the public as they try and identify the two culprits.

The first man is described as being of Pacific Islander appearna,ce about 170cm tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a black balaclava, a black jumper with a grey hood, black tracksuit pants, white shoes and white knitted gloves.

the second man was described only as wearing a bandana over his face and a grey beanie with a red pattern, a black jumper, grey pants, dark shows and dark gloves.

Men on the run after robbing Sydney convenience store at knife point

Police are searching for two men who allegedly robbed a convenience store at knife point in Sydney’s Inner West.

It’s alleged the two men – one armed with a knife – stormed the store on Darling Street in Rozelle just before 8am on Saturday and threatened a 28-year-old male attendant before fleeing with a stash of tobacco and cash.

The first man is described as possibly being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall, of medium build, and was seen wearing a high-visibility jumper with fluoro-orange on the top and dark-blue on the bottom.

The second is described as being about 180cm tall, of medium build, and was seen wearing a navy-blue hooded jumper.

Police hunt man who allegedly robbed Sydney bottle shop at knife-point

Police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a bottle shop at knife-point in Sydney’s south-west on Thursday evening.

It’s alleged that, at around 7.30pm, a man armed with a knife entered the liquor store on Howard Road in Padstow and threatened two staff members into emptying the cash register.

Police said the man fled the store on foot a short time later, with cash, and was last seen running toward Shoults Lane.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

Local police, with assistance from the dog squad, conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area, but the man could not be found.

The man is described as being about 185cm tall and of a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper with a white circle across the front and a white t-shirt underneath, dark-blue pants, red gloves and a navy-blue face covering.

Police said the man was also seen carrying a black Billabong backpack with white and green trim across the top of the bag.

Man with terrorises convenience store staff with meat cleaver in Qld

A man has used a meat cleaver to terrorise staff during an armed holed up of a convenience store at Townsville, in far north Queensland.

Police say the man entered the Abbott Street business in the suburb of Oonoonba at around 8.55am on Saturday and threatened two employees – a 22-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl – with the knife before taking an undisclosed amount of cash from the till and fleeing on foot.

He was last seen fleeing down O’Donnell Street. Anyone with any information is urged to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
