Target recalls kids bed rail over injury concerns

Target has recalled a home-branded safety bed rail over concerns a child could fall out of bed and suffer an injury with the product in place.

The affected model number is S1602, and was available for purchase between July 2017 and January 2020 inclusive at Target Australia stores nationwide, including Target Country.

A notice on the government’s product safety website says the strength seam of the bed rail has been deemed to be not sufficient, and could tear with use.

If the seam tears, a child could fall out of bed or become entangled in the product and suffer an injury.

Target has said it will refund all customers who own the affected bed rail, with proof of purchase not needed.

“We recommend you stop using the item immediately and return it to a Target or Target Country store as soon as possible, with or without a receipt, where our team members will provide you with a full refund,” Target said on Facebook.
