TWO Gold Coast teachers have been recognised for their remarkable contribution to the lives of young Australians.
Gary Fox from Queensland Academies – Health & Sciences Campus in Southport and Ruth West from Currumbin State High School were today presented with a 2014 Commonwealth Bank Foundation Teaching Award at a special ceremony in Sydney.
The Gold Coast due were just two of 15 teachers from across Australia who were acknowledged for their admirable efforts in running or developing innovative programs to educate Australian kids about money and finance.

Gary’s program is taught over an eight-week period covering topics from taxation to deciphering a salary statement, to understanding the power of compound interest, while Ruth’s proposed Business Academy program will allow students to access ‘real’ information about money management, personal finance and entrepreneurship.
They each received $10,000 to progress their respective financial education programs, as well as $2,000 as a personal award.
The 2014 Commonwealth Bank Foundation Teaching Awards help to support the work of teachers who educate young Australians about essential money management skills.
