A young pizza delivery rider has died after his moped and another car collided, causing him to be thrown from his scooter before being hit by an oncoming vehicle.
The tragic accident happened on Ducat Street in Tweed Heads around 6.00pm last night.
It’s understood the 18-year-old man, a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver, was travelling southbound when his moped and a Holden Colorado collided.

“After the collision, the moped rider was thrown to the road and was struck by a northbound Toyota Prado,” Police said.
Despite desperate attempts by paramedics, he died at the scene.
The 42-year-old male driver of the Holden, and the 46-year-old female driver of the Toyota managed to escape uninjured.
They were taken to Tweed Heads Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
A crime scene was established at the crash site, with the road closed for about five hours while the scene was examined.
Investigations are ongoing.
