Teen knocked unconscious in unprovoked attack on the Gold Coast

A TEENAGE boy has been knocked unconscious after being punched to the ground in a shocking unprovoked attack on the Gold Coast.

It happened during the early hours of Saturday morning at Pacific Pines.

Police said the 17-year-old was standing with a group of friends on Archipelago Street around 3.15am when they were approached by two men.

“The men then became involved in an unprovoked altercation with the group resulting in the assault of two men,” police said in a statement.

The 17-year-old boy was punched to the ground and knocked unconscious in the attack.

He was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital, along with another 18-year-old who police said sustained facial injuries in the assault.

Police said both teens are in a stable condition.

A crime scene was declared on Archipelago Street and examined by forensic police.

A mobile phone that was allegedly stolen from one of the victims was found by police, dumped nearby a short time later.

Police have spoken to a number of witnesses and are appealing for anyone else who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident to contact Policelink on 131 444.
