Teenager dies from overdose at music festival

A teenage woman has become the fifth person to die from an overdose at a music festival in New South Wales in as many months.

The 19-year-old was taken from the FOMO Festival in Parramatta to Westmead Hospital on Saturday night, but later died.

An investigation is now underway into the circumstances surrounding the Central Coast woman’s death, with officers from Parramatta Police Area Command appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The teen was among an estimated crowd of 11,387 people who attended the music festival at Parramatta Park.

Police say officers searched almost 150 people, with 54 found in possession of drugs.

A further 24 people were removed from the venue, generally for intoxication issues, and 28 were refused entry.
