Telco aiming to reduce bill shock

TELSTRA will soon let customers know they’ve hit their mobile download limit within seconds.

The telco is the first in Australia to rollout real-time alerts to help customers avoid bill shock.

At the moment, text alerts are sent within 48 hours.

It follows a rise in complains about excess data charges in the latest financial year while other mobile phone complains drastically declined.

The service, which will also tell users when they’ve used 50 and 85 per cent of their included data, will be rolled out by the end of November.
