Thousands without power after car smash in Oxenford

UPDATE: Power has been restored to a number of northern Gold Coast properties, after a fiery crash this morning at Oxenford this morning.

Just over 50 properties are believed to still be without power.

EARLIER: THOUSANDS have been left without power afeter a ute crashed into a powerpole in Oxenford this morning.

According to reports, the car was travelling along Copps Road when it veeered into a power pole.

All passengers managed to escape before the vehicle burst into flames.

Ambulance personnel say one man has been taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with neck pain.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area with both lanes closed off at this time.

Over 2000 homes are without power across Maudsland and Oxenford, as well as Cedar Creek, Guanaba, Pacific Pines, Upper Coomera and Wongawallan.
