Toddler trampled by horse

A TODDLER has been airlifted to hospital after being trampled by a horse on a property in the New South Wales Upper Hunter Valley.

The little girl, just three-years-old, suffered a head injury following the incident at Gungal, west of Muswellbrook, about 5.30pm on Friday.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service based at Tamworth was dispatched to the scene, halfway between Dubbo and Newcastle.

Ambulance officers worked with the Westpac medical crew to treat and stabilise the child before airlifting her to hospital.

She was eventually flown to Tamworth Base Hospital where she spent the night, reportedly in a stable condition.
