Construction for the 2018 Gold Coast 600 has officially begun, with motorists being warned they may experience some disruptions in the tourist hub over the next month.
Work on the 2.96km street circuit in Main Beach and Surfers Paradise officially kicked off this morning, just days out from the start of this year’s eagerly awaited Pirtek Enduro Cup series.
Vodafone GC600 Event Manager Melissa Stephens and Virgin Australia Supercars Championship drivers Will Davison, Tim Slade, leading rookie Jack Le Brocq and current Championship leader Shane van Gisbergen will help launch this year’s event at a special ceremony in Surfers Paradise today.

The largest annual sporting event in Queensland, the GC600 will not only feature three days of on-track action, but a huge night of entertainment at Broadwater Parklands featuring Brisbane band SHEPPARD and international mega stars Foreigner and +LIVE+
Last year, Gold Coaster Chaz Mostert and kiwi Scott McLaughlin took out the race wins on the famous Gold Coast street track, with the 2017 event attracting a crowd of 186,259.
The GC600 will take place from October 19-21.
