Man charged after police bust alleged drug lab in Helensvale

UPDATE @ July 17, 6.45AM | A Gold Coast man has been charged with a string of drug and weapons offences after a raid on a home in Helensvale.

Officers executed a search warrant at the Latrobe Avenue house on Tuesday, where they allegedly uncovered methamphetamine, LSD, cannabis, cash, firearms and ammunition

Three men were arrested at the scene, however police confirmed to myGC that two have since been released.

One man, a 41-year-old from Helensvale, has been charged with multiple offences including possessing dangerous drugs and supplying dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of weapons, one count each of authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), possess utensil, possessing restricted item (laser pointer) and possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence (cash).

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.

EARLIER @ July 16, 2.30PM | Gold Coast police have uncovered an alleged drug lab at a home in Helensvale this morning.

Officers executed a search warrant at the Latrobe Avenue house around 6.30am, where they allegedly found 500 grams of methamphetamine along with smaller amounts of LSD, cannabis, cash and ammunition.

It’s understood specialist officers from the Illicit Laboratory Investigation Team were also called in to assess chemicals and laboratory equipment that was also allegedly found at the home.

Three men, aged 25, 36 and 37, were taken into custody at the scene.

They’re currently assisting police with inquiries.
