Trio charged over Coomera robbery

UPDATE 11:30AM SUNDAY: THREE out-of-towners have been arrested and charged after allegedly robbing a young couple at knifepoint in Coomera yesterday.

Police said the victims – a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl – had arranged to meet a man in the Dreamworld carpark off Whitewater Way about 2:15pm to sell a motorcycle they had advertised online.

But it’s alleged five men showed up to the meeting point and pulled knives on the couple before taking the bike, loading it on the back of their ute and driving off without paying.

Thankfully, the young man and teenage girl were not physically harmed during the incident. They were, however, treated for shock and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital as a precaution.

Three of the five offenders – two 16-year-old boys and a 47-year-old man – have since been arrested and charged with robbery in company and attempted robbery in company.

Police said the boys – one from Logan Reserve and the other from Fernvale, west of Brisbane – will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

The 47-year-old man from Atkinsons Dam, also west of Brisbane, is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on September 28.

Police are still looking for the stolen motorcycle. It’s a black and green 2009 Kawasaki KX250 (pictured below).

Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the incident in the carpark to come forward and call their local police station or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
