A TRUCK driver has been charged with dangerous driving causing death following a horror crash that killed a man and critically injured his wife in central West New South Wales.
Police said a heavy vehicle was travelling south along the Newell Highway at Back Creek when it collided head-on with a northbound Mitsubishi Triton, about 18km outside of West Wyalong, on Friday morning.
Sadly, the 54-year-old man driving the Mitsubishi died at the scene while his 52-year-old wife was critically injured.

The woman was rushed by ambulance to West Wyalong Hospital before being flown to Wagga Base Hospital.
She has since been transferred to St George Hospital in Sydney where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
The 26-year-old man behind the wheel of the truck escaped uninjured and was taken to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
Following investigations, the man was arrested on Saturday afternoon and charged with a long list of offences including, dangerous and negligent driving occasioning death and grievous bodily harm.
The man was granted bail and is due to appear in West Wyalong Local Court next month.
