Two dead after trucks collide in horror highway smash

TWO men have been killed after a semi-trailer collided with a truck in Far North Queensland.

The trucks came to grief on the Kennedy Highway at Davies Creek, near Mareeba, just before 7.30am.

Police said the heavy vehicles caught fire and both drivers were declared deceased at the scene.


The Kennedy Highway is closed in both directions and is expected to remain so for several hours.

Police warn traffic coming from Mareeba will not be able to get through to Kuranda.

Motorists are urged to delay their travel or seek alternate routes until further notice.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the horror crash.
