Two dozen alleged meth dealers, users arrested in sweeping raids

MORE than two dozen alleged meth dealers, traffickers and users have been arrested in a series of sweeping police raids across the Whitsundays.

Queensland Police launched Operation Quebec Active last year to investigate the trafficking and sale of crystal meth in the tourist area.

In closing the protracted seven month investigation, officers arrested 26 people and charged them with 172 drug offences.

Of those arrested, six were charged with trafficking dangerous drugs in a serious criminal network.

During the operation, officers allegedly seized four guns – including two rifles and two pump-action shotguns – tasers, and a large amount of crystal meth, MDMA and cannabis from homes in Cannonvale, Proserpine and Mackay.
