Driver badly injured after truck and car collide

UPDATE at 1:00 PM | THE Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding a nasty crash between a truck and an SUV on the Gold Coast.

The truck tipped onto its side, trapping the driver in the cabin after coming to grief with the SUV on Worongary Road at Tallai on Saturday morning.

It happened at the intersection of The Panorama, between Nature Valley Court and Incline Drive, just before 11am.


In a statement a short time ago, police confirmed the man behind the wheel of the truck was badly injured in the smash.

He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition. His age is not known.

No further information was available at the time of writing.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken with police is urged to come forward.

EARLIER at 12:10 PM | A MAN has been rushed to hospital following a shocking crash involving a truck and a car at Tallai, on the Gold Coast.

The two vehicles came to grief at the intersection of Worongary Road and The Panorama, between Nature Valley Court and Incline Drive, just before 11am.

It’s understood the truck rolled onto its side after colliding with the car.

A man was trapped and had to be freed from the wreckage.

It’s understood he was treated by paramedics at the scene before being transported by ambulance to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

The man is believed to be in a serious condition. His age is not known.

Traffic is slow moving through the area, with police directing motorists around the scene of the crash at the time of writing.

A woman who drove past the accident moments after it happened told myGC it was an awful scene.

“We went past it not long after it happened…it was just awful,” the woman said.

“We got through but further along police were directing traffic off Worongary Road.

“I think someone must have been trapped…the truck was laying on its side, on the driver’s side.”
