Two killed in head-on collision

A MAN and a woman have been killed after the cars they were driving collided head-on near Echuca, in Victoria’s north.

The vehicles came to grief on the Murray Valley Highway at Leitchville about 10.45am on Sunday.

Police said one of the vehicle’s flipped and burst into flames on impact.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire, but there was nothing they could do to save the drivers.

Sadly, both male and female drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

They were the only ones travelling the cars at the time.

The Murray Valley Highway, between Bowlands and Kerang-Leitchville roads, remained closed for several hours following the crash.
