Two men charged over moped bag snatch

THE long arm of the law has caught up with two men accused of bag snatching incidents in Southport.

Police say the Nerang locals used a moped to track their alleged victims and were able to speed off with at least one handbag.

The duo, aged 18 and 22, is accused of stealing a bag from a 19-year-old woman walking along North Street on Tuesday.


It’s alleged they later attempted to steal a bag from a 28-year-old woman as she walked along Queen Street.

They were arrested on Friday and charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempted robbery in company and robbery in company.

The 22-year-old man was also charged with possession of dangerous drugs and possession of a drug utensil.

They’ve are due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.
