Two officers, two civilians killed in Canada apartment shooting

Four people, including two police officers, have died after a gunman opened fire in the eastern Canadian province of New Brunswick.

It’s believed he shot dead a man and woman at an apartment complex in the capital Fredericton on Friday (local time), and injured a number of other people, before emergency services swooped on the area.

The area was placed in lockdown, as Police moved in.


Further shots were exchanged and the gunman, believed to be a 48-year-old local man, was seriously injured, while two officers were killed.

The slain officers have been identified as Sara May Burns, 43, and Lawrence Robb Costello, 45.

The names of the two murdered civilians have not been released.
