Ute smashes into house, narrowly missing sleeping woman

A man who was allegedly affected by both alcohol and drugs, has ploughed his ute into a house, south west of Brisbane, causing major damage.

The vehicle narrowly missed a female resident, who was woken by the almighty crash around 1.15am on Sunday.

Police say the 48-year-old driver of the Holden ute lost control on the corner of Laurel Street at Redbank Plains, smashed through a fence and through the front of the house.

The owner of the house told the Nine Network, it’s amazing the 23-year-old woman wasn’t hit.

“It’s lucky she wasn’t killed. If was another eight feet (2.5 metres) that way, she wouldn’t be here,” Robert Heath said.

The driver also managed to escape uninjured, but has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and driving under the influence of liquor.

He is expected to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on October 19.
