Ms Graham explained that the theme is “common people common dreams” drawing attention to the fact that we all share common dreams of security, peace, opportunity and belonging.
“I think that it’s really important that we celebrate our diversity, on the Gold Coast particularly, where you don’t see the diversity of the people” she said.
Ms Graham added that “there is lots of people here that come from many different countries and it’s nice to get together and celebrate”.
So on Saturday the walk leaves the Great Lawn at the Southport Broadwater Parklands at 1.00pm AEST and heads about 2km north to Mitchell Park and back for a sausage sizzle.
There will be a “Welcome to Country” and a free sausage sizzle.
There is parking at the Parklands but public transport might be the best way to get there with the GC 600 happening at the same time.
