Wanted man arrested after allegedly choking, biting pregnant woman

A WANTED man has been charged after a pregnant woman was allegedly choked and bitten at a home near Port Kembla earlier this year.

The 23-year-old man was arrested by police from the newly-established Southern Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team on Tuesday following an ongoing investigation.

Police say the domestic-related assault happened at a house in Kanahooka about 1pm on Saturday 29 September.

“It’s alleged a 22-year-old woman – who is pregnant – was choked and bitten by a man known to her,” NSW police said in a statement.

“It will also be alleged the man damaged a door in the home, before he left the scene.”

The man, who police say was found in a garage at the back of a property in Berkeley on Tuesday, has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), destroy or damage property (DV), and outstanding warrant.

He’s been refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Thursday 22 November.
