Wartime lovers reunite for Valentine’s Day after 70 years apart

A US World War II veteran has touched down in Australia from Virginia to spend Valentine’s Day with his wartime love.

After 70 years apart, Norwood Thomas, 93, has finally reconnected with his former girlfriend, 88-year-old Joyce Morris who resides in Adelaide.

The pair were brought together to rekindle their love via an online campaign after video of them catching up via a ‘Skype’ date went viral.

The young lovers first met in England during WWII, a few months before Mr Thomas parachuted into Normandy with the 101st Airborne Division.

They went their separate ways when the war ended.

After their amazing love story went public, Air New Zealand arranged for Mr Thomas and his caretaker son Steve to fly first-class to Australia.
