WATCH: Brooke Hanson pushing organ donation message during Australian Transplant Games

Olympic Champion Brooke Hanson is on a mission to get as many Gold Coasters as she can to register to be an organ donor.

The swimming star has signed on to be an ambassador for the upcoming Australian Transplant Games, which will be held on the Gold Coast from September 30 to October 6.

It will be the first time the Australian Transplant Games have been held on the glitter strip, however the World Transplant Games was held here in 2009.

Brooke told myGC she was thrilled to be involved with the event.

“The Games bring more awareness to people to make sure they register as organ donors,” she said.

“Over 700 people will be competing this year, and everyone competing has been donated an organ. A lot of the athletes have never exercised before, but now they get to compete against other people who have also undergone organ transplant.”
