A number of local business leaders pushed their fear of heights aside today to raise funds for the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter.
Gold Coast Airport COO Marion Charlton, Tweed Byron Police District Commander Dave Roptell and Tropical Fruit World General Manager Aymon Gow were among the group abseiling from the side of a 10-storey building at Southern Cross University.
To take part in the event, each participant was tasked with raising $2500 through sponsorship.

Ms Charlton told myGC she was a little nervous about taking the leap off the building.
“I suppose it’s a case of feel the fear, and do it anyway,” she said.
“I was feeling fine until I saw the people go ahead of me, now I am getting quite nervous. But you know what, it is a brilliant cause, they do such great work, so it is my absolute honour to be part of it.”
