WATCH: The first official trailer for Ocean’s 8 is here!

Make way George, Brad, Matt and Don… The new cons are in town: and they’re women!

The trailer for the new Ocean’s 8 film was released yesterday, to a divided audience.

The all-female re-boot sees Hollywood’s most powerful women come together to plan a heist surrounding the Met Gala Ball.

Instead of George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Don Cheadle carrying out a heist of epic proportions, Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter will be doing the honours.

In the new trailer, Bullock follows Clooney’s character arch from the 2001 Ocean’s Eleven remake, and is released from jail before recruiting a gun group of fellow con-women, with the eight rounded out by singer Rihanna, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling and Awkwafina.

Since being dropped on the Warner Bros. Facebook page, the trailer has been liked and shared thousands of times.

But comments have been mixed, with some claiming Hollywood is lacking originality.

“Hollywood needs to make original movies instead of sequels no one asked for.”

While others compared it to the recent female re-boot of Ghostbusters, which had a poor showing at the box office.

“Love the ocean series….but this looks like it’ll be Ghostbusters the sequel.”

“so I guess lazy gender-swapped sequels are the trend in Hollywood now? women deserve more than that, give them a new original franchise, not a lazy gender swap.”

Others are welcoming the girl power.

“Omg sooo excited!”

“Love it…. robbing the Met Gala!”

I keep my ‘presenting voice’ active during the week when reading children’s books and attempting to do various accents (to little success).”
