WATCH: Gold Coast business creates COVID-safe contactless sports attendance system

The way participants sign-on and register for team sports is set to change, with a Gold Coast business developing a new contactless attendance system.

In response to COVID-19, SportsBio created a facial recognition system that uses blink technology to sign-on and register players.

SportsBio owner Wayne Turner told myGC the system previously used fingerprint technology.

“Coronavirus has made us advance the technology for the good,” he said.

Mr Turner said the COVID-safe technology has been tested and is ready to go when sports resume.

“The system is likely to go to rugby, we are doing a system for nippers and we are working with many other team sports like soccer, netball, baseball and basketball,” he said.
