WATCH: SurfGroms program to help local kids learn to surf this summer

If your child is keen to learn to surf this summer, but riding the waves isn’t your forte, you are in luck because Surfing Australia has developed a program to help kids become confident and capable surfers.

The nudie SurfGroms program aims to share the joy of surfing with kids aged 5 to 12 years old, while also teaching them important surf safety & ocean awareness techniques.

Instructor Rachel Cowley told myGC the program gives kids the chance to have fun in the ocean and encourages them to ‘become surfers for life’.

“We are in the water with the children the whole time, and make sure they have all the knowledge they need to progress through the SurfGrom levels,” she said.

“It’s also a great way to learn about your local beach.”

The nudie SurfGroms program is run Australia-wide, including at a number of locations on the Gold Coast.

Every child who registers to take part in the program will receive a Rip Curl Merchandise pack, valued at over $150, that includes a logbook which kids can work through with their coach and parents. For more information, visit:
