Wildlife Wednesday: Orla the pregnant possum

Orla the ringtail possum is slowly recovering in the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital after being hit by a car.

While Orla received nasty head injuries during the accident, her one-month-old joey was thankfully left unscathed.

Head Vet Michael Pyne said if people do come across an injured marsupial, they should stop and have a look inside the pouch. “Often there can be a live little bub inside the pouch because it is so well protected. Rarely do you find that the youngsters have injuries,” he said.
