A WOMAN has been charged by police after she allegedly made up sob stories to convince members of the public to give her money.
It’s understood the 49-year-old woman allegedly approached strangers in car parks across Sydney’s west, claiming that her mother was sick in Newcastle Hospital and that she needed money for petrol and hospital parking.
After launching an investigation into the similar incidents, officers arrested the woman at Penrith Police Station about 11.30am yesterday.

She was charged with dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception and granted bail to appear at Penrith Local Court on Tuesday 18 December.
Police say inquiries are continuing, with further charges likely.
