Woman charged after driving car into home while drunk

A 54-YEAR-OLD woman has been arrested and charged after allegedly driving her car through the front wall of a house during a suspected domestic disturbance in Cairns overnight.

Police were called to the Atherton Street home about 8.30pm after the woman allegedly drove a vehicle through an exterior wall of the home following an argument with a 48-year-old man.

While no one was injured during the incident, the house sustained significant damage.

Police said the woman was drunk and provided a Breath Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.163 per cent.

The 54-year-old was arrested and has since been charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle and being adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.

She is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
