Woman flees courthouse in handcuffs after fooling police into letting her use bathroom

POLICE are searching for a woman who escaped custody and took off from a courthouse in handcuffs on Queensland’s Darling Downs.

The 30-year-old allegedly fled after being sentenced in the Dalby Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the woman was restrained by handcuffs at the time and had been given permission to go to the bathroom when she disappeared around 12.25pm.

Detectives are urging anyone who may have seen the woman pictured or knows where she is to come forward and call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000..

Police say there are no concerns for public safety in relation to this incident.
