Woman followed home and sexually assaulted after night out

A MAN has been charged with aggravated sexual assault after allegedly following a woman home from a night out in Wollongong and attacking her in her home.

The man, 39, allegedly got into the same taxi as the 56-year-old woman outside a licensed venue on Pioneer Road at Towradgi about 2.40am on Sunday, October 14.

The woman asked the cab driver to take her to her home on Bellambi Street at Tarrawanna.

It’s alleged the man got out of the taxi with the woman and followed her into her home where it’s alleged he violently sexually assaulted her before leaving.

Terrified and left shaking in shock, the woman called police who, following investigations, arrested the 39-year-old man last night at his home on The Grand Court at Fairy Meadow.

He was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with aggravated sexual assault and inflict actual bodily harm with intent to have sexual intercourse with the victim.

The 39-year-old was refused bail and due to appear in Wollongong Local Court today.
