Woman hit and killed by bus on zebra crossing

A WOMAN has died in hospital after being run over by a bus on a zebra crossing in Melbourne’s east.

The tragic accident happened outside Croydon Railway Station just after 6am on Friday.

The 61-year-old was critically injured and rushed to hospital where sadly she later died, police said.


The Major Collision Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Police said the bus driver stopped at the scene and is now “assisting police with their enquiries”.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken with police is urged to come forward and call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
