Woman hit and killed by garbage truck

AN ELDERLY woman has tragically died after being run over by a garbage truck in Sydney’s north.

It happened on Claremont Crescent in Windsor just after 5pm on Monday.

In a statement tonight, NSW Police said the elderly woman suffered life threatening injuries.


Despite the best efforts of witnesses and emergency services, the woman could not be saved.

Police confirmed she died at the scene before she could be taken to hospital.

The man driving the garbage truck stopped and rendered assistance.

He was later taken to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Officers from the Hawkesbury Police Area Command are investing the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Claremont Crescent was sealed off and declared a crime scene for most of the evening.

Police are appealing for anyone with information, dash cam footage or any witnesses to come forward.
