A WOMAN has been repeatedly punched in the face and sexually assaulted in a horrific attack in Sydney’s south-west overnight.
Police said the 51-year-old woman was walking along a track in Lighthorse Park at Liverpool around 11.55pm when she noticed a man nearby watching her.
“As she approached the stairs to Newbridge Road, the man began walking towards her, before punching her in the face several times,” police said.

“The man continued to physically assault the woman, and then sexually assaulted her.”
It wasn’t until passers-by heard the woman’s terrified screams for help and ran to her aid, chasing the attacker until they lost sight of him.
The woman was taken to Liverpool Hospital with facial injuries including lacerations, bruising, and damage to her teeth.
A crime scene has been established at the park with investigations underway.
The man has been described as about 165-175cm tall, skinny build, dark skinned, wearing an orange/blue coloured hi-visibility fluoro jumper, long pants and boots.
