Woman jailed for shooting dead ex-partner on Gold Coast

A WOMAN has been sentenced to seven years behind bars after fatally shooting her ex-partner at a home on the Gold Coast.

Linda Currie appeared in Southport Supreme Court on Monday, where she pleaded not guilty to murder and guilty to manslaughter.

The court heard the 50-year-old woman became involved in an argument with her former partner Gabriel Orchard at a Labrador unit on August 22, 2016.

The pair reportedly fought for control of a gun at the home before Mr Orchard was shot in the chest.

Paramedics desperately tried to save the man, however he could not be revived and died at the scene.

Currie will be eligible for parole on December 21, 2018.
